Cursor Italy Code of Conduct

Our Pledge

In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, we as members, contributors, organizers, and leaders pledge to make participation in our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive environment include:

Encouraged Behaviors

  • Be Respectful: Treat all community members with respect and kindness
  • Be Inclusive: Welcome newcomers and create an environment where everyone feels valued
  • Be Collaborative: Share knowledge, help others learn, and work together constructively
  • Be Professional: Maintain a professional demeanor in all community interactions
  • Be Constructive: Provide helpful feedback and engage in meaningful discussions
  • Ask Questions: No question is too basic - we all started somewhere
  • Share Knowledge: Help others by sharing your experiences and expertise
  • Give Credit: Acknowledge contributions and respect intellectual property

Unacceptable Behaviors

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form
  • Offensive comments related to personal characteristics or beliefs
  • Unwelcome sexual attention or advances
  • Public or private harassment
  • Publishing others' private information without explicit permission
  • Trolling, insulting, or derogatory comments
  • Disrupting talks, presentations, or discussions
  • Spam, excessive self-promotion, or off-topic content
  • Any conduct that creates an unsafe or unwelcoming environment

Community Guidelines

At Events

  • Arrive on time and be prepared to participate
  • Respect speakers by giving them your full attention
  • Ask thoughtful questions during Q&A sessions
  • Network respectfully - introduce yourself and be genuinely interested in others
  • Follow venue rules and treat the space with care
  • Help with setup/cleanup when possible

Online Interactions

  • Use clear, professional communication in all written messages
  • Stay on topic in discussions and forums
  • Respect different opinions and engage in constructive debate
  • Use appropriate channels for different types of communication
  • Avoid spam or excessive promotional content

Speaking & Presentations

  • Submit original content or clearly credit sources
  • Respect time limits and stick to your allocated slot
  • Be prepared with tested demos and backup plans
  • Engage with the audience and encourage questions
  • Share resources mentioned in your talk

Reporting Guidelines

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it promptly:

How to Report

  1. Immediate Safety Concerns: Contact venue security or local authorities
  2. Community Issues: Email the organizers at [organizers@cursor-italy.dev]
  3. Anonymous Reports: Use our anonymous reporting form [link to be added]

What to Include

  • Description of the incident
  • When and where it occurred
  • Names/contact info of people involved (if known)
  • Any supporting evidence (screenshots, messages, etc.)

Our Response

  • Acknowledgment: We will acknowledge receipt within 24 hours
  • Investigation: We will investigate all reports fairly and confidentially
  • Action: Appropriate action will be taken based on findings
  • Follow-up: We will follow up with the reporter on the outcome

Enforcement

Community leaders are responsible for clarifying and enforcing our standards of acceptable behavior and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behavior that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Possible Actions

Depending on the severity of the violation, actions may include:

  • Warning: Private warning about the behavior
  • Temporary Suspension: Removal from community events/platforms for a specified period
  • Permanent Ban: Permanent removal from all community activities
  • Legal Action: Involvement of authorities for serious violations

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all community spaces, including:

  • In-person meetups and events
  • Online platforms (Meetup.com, LinkedIn, Lu.ma, etc.)
  • Email communications
  • Social media interactions related to the community
  • Any other spaces where community members interact
